Split tunneling in Happ
iOS / AndroidRule-based routing
In Happ, split tunneling is done through routing rules. You decide which domains go through the VPN and which go directly. This is especially useful on iPhone, where per-app selection is limited by the system. Below is the step-by-step setup.
Note: on iOS, system limitations don't allow picking apps as easily as on Android. In Happ this is done via routing rules (Routing).
- Go to Settings inside the Happ app.
- Find the Routing section.
- Select Rule Mode instead of Global Mode.
- You can add your own domain rules or use preset rule sets.
- If you want everything through the VPN except certain sites, use the Bypass LAN and Mainland mode.
Benefits of split tunneling
Access to local services
Banking apps and government services often block access from foreign IPs. Split tunneling lets them work directly.
Saving resources
Traffic from heavy apps (games, cloud storage) can bypass the VPN to reduce CPU load and save battery.
FAQ
How do I send only some traffic through the VPN in Happ?
Go to Settings → Routing, choose Rule Mode and add the domains to proxy; the rest of the traffic will go directly.
Can I pick apps in Happ on iOS?
Per-app selection is not available on iOS due to system limits — use domain rules. On Android a per-app mode is also available.
