Split tunneling in Karing

Per-app proxy (Android) and rules (iOS)

Karing is a cross-platform client: on Android you get per-app proxy, while on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Windows you use domain routing rules. Below is how to set up split tunneling in Karing on your platform.

On Android, Karing lets you pick specific apps; on iOS you set domain routing rules.

  • Open Karing and go to Settings → Routing.
  • On Android, enable "Per-app proxy" and tick the apps that should go through the VPN.
  • On iOS, add domains to the rules: Proxy — through the VPN, Direct — directly.
  • Save the settings and reconnect.

Benefits of split tunneling

Access to local services

Banking apps and government services often block access from foreign IPs. Split tunneling lets them work directly.

Saving resources

Traffic from heavy apps (games, cloud storage) can bypass the VPN to reduce CPU load and save battery.
